EIT Climate-KIC Spain is the Spanish Centre for Innovation in Climate Change. It is part of the European EIT Climate-KIC initiative, one of the Knowledge Innovation Communities (KIC) promoted by the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT).
EIT Climate-KIC was launched in 2010 and has nearly 400 partner organisations, including universities, research centres, companies and public bodies. It has a network of offices in Austria, Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Slovenia, Spain, Estonia, Finland, Greece, the Netherlands, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Serbia, Sweden and Switzerland.
The mission of EIT Climate-KIC Spain is to foster the development of a low carbon economy with the aim of facilitating actions for adaptation and mitigation of climate change. Its three main pillars of action are innovation, entrepreneurship and training, through various programmes for talent recruitment, higher education and the acceleration of innovative ideas to tackle global warming. Its action is articulated through the promotion of sustainability in urban areas, sustainable production systems, land management and financial and decision-making parameters.
EIT Climate-KIC Spain is pushing the challenge of a new sustainable economy model based on competitiveness, economic growth and green job creation, In collaboration with the European Institute of Innovation and Technology and supported by a community of reputable and well-established partners.
